After record sales last year, Delaware County’s Junior Fair Sale will adjust its schedule on Sept.
22 and 23 by starting at 5 p.m. and holding the buyers’ dinner at 4 p.m., and it will add a reserve champion baked goods auction to engage more local 4-H youth.

Hallihan’s Irish Pub opened on Monday at 12 W.
William St. downtown, offering upgraded Irish dishes including hand-battered fish & chips and slow-cooked Reuben while planning to show European soccer and rugby matches early. Owner John Cordas said the new venue fills a local void for traditional Irish cuisine.
Local milliner Ryan Miller of Peaky Hat created a buzz with a cap showcase at a movie screening and local venues, and he plans to open a downtown storefront soon - a move aimed at boosting community ties.
His flexible designs invite everyone to express themselves without breaking the bank.
🎓 Education
Olentangy Schools is asking for community name suggestions for its unnamed fifth high school until Sept.
25, with ideas based on local history. The new school on Sawmill and Bunty Station Roads will be operational in fall 2028 and the school board will decide the final name on Oct. 8.
Local school superintendents met at the State of the Schools event (held at Brookshire Event Venue in Delaware) on Thursday to discuss enrollment trends, funding challenges and safety protocols.
Buckeye Valley’s Ric Stranges announced he plans to retire next summer after 48 years in education.
Olentangy Schools announced that 30 seniors have been named National Merit Semifinalists (representing less than one percent of high school seniors nationwide) ahead of an Oct.
22 board meeting.
Olentangy Schools earned a five-star rating on the 2025-26 Ohio School Report Cards for the fourth consecutive year, one of only 61 districts statewide to receive the top mark.
Superintendent Todd Meyer highlighted the district's dedicated staff and community support as keys to the achievement.

Delaware County commissioners awarded $209K to 15 nonprofits on Thursday, Sept.
18 through the Community Enhancement Grants to support local projects (repairs, renovations, and community programs) and approved an annexation petition for 117 acres in Berlin Township, now moving to city review.
🏈 Sports
Yesterday night in Powell, the Patriots overcame two fumbles and a late interception to secure a 17-14 non-league win over the Braves.
Quarterback Tommy Hartings scored the key touchdown before Griffin Gardner sealed the win.
The Big Walnut girls volleyball team improved to 12-0 overall and 5-0 in league play with a straight-set win over host Dublin Scioto on Thursday night.
Sophie Hamilton led the attack with 14 kills as the team maintained its perfect season.
