🎭 Culture
A new book titled Historic Barns of Delaware County, published by Pressworks of Plain City, will debut featuring 23 barns (each at least 75 years old) and will be sold at the Delaware County Fair (Sept.
19-26) while research continues on documenting disappearing local barns.
Organizers will host a preview of the 2026 Delaware County Fair to reveal upcoming festivities and plans.

🎓 Education
Big Walnut Local Schools received a four-star overall rating in the 2025-2026 Ohio School Report Cards, meaning the district exceeds state standards.
Graduation rates and gap closing earned five stars (98.2% graduation within four years) while early literacy and readiness need more support.
Delaware County District Library is celebrating Dolly Parton Day week‐long from Sept.
21-26 — hosting storytimes, book giveaways, and craft sessions to support Dolly’s Imagination Library program that gives free books to young readers; the event honors the proclamation that Sept. 25 is Dolly Parton Day in Ohio.
Olentangy Schools earned a five-star rating for the fourth year on Ohio School Report Cards released recently.
The district, one of only 61 statewide and serving over 10,000 students, received top marks in academic achievement, closing educational gaps, and graduation rates.
🏛️ Government
Veterans can get free Vet ID cards at the Delaware County Fair if they bring an original or certified military discharge and two valid IDs.
The County Recorder’s Office will offer the service Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 25 at the Fairgrounds Coliseum.
Powell City Council approved a Hometown Heroes Banner Program that will honor local military service by displaying banners with names, photos and branch details on 43 downtown utility poles next spring; the banners will hang during display periods around Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

Chase Sims, a former soccer player who is now Delaware Hayes’ kicker, missed his first 54-yard field goal attempt at Big Walnut on Sept.
11 but remains spot-on on extra points and punting and looks to bounce back against Westerville North Friday.
