HelpLine’s Board named Jason Bridges as its new executive director, effective Sept.
14 (he has served as interim director since March) and he will lead the organization’s crisis support and prevention programs.
In July, Amanda Wampler, the new CEO of the Humane Society, led the annual Fur Ball that raised a record $260,000 — prompting upgrades to staff, technology and facility functions to meet growing local pet needs.
The organization continues offering shelter, veterinary care and adoptions for community animals.

The Powell Planning and Zoning Commission voted Tuesday against the final development plan for a shopping center at 120 E.
Olentangy St. after nearly 20 residents expressed concerns about its design and potential traffic issues — Commissioners urged Equity Development to propose revised plans that better suit the community’s character.
Delaware County Sheriff Jeffrey Balzer recalled his experience on Sept.
11, 2001 when he was transporting inmates and heard about the attacks. He noted that heightened security measures and a united national spirit followed the tragic events.

Tuesday, the Powell Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed preliminary plans for a new mixed-use building at 110 S.-Liberty St that will feature an arcade with a Pac-Man theme and retail space.
Final plans will be submitted before construction begins.
